Dallas Woes

Recently I was reading the Sports section, of course, of the Dallas Morning News. There was an article by one of my favorite writers, Tim Cowlishaw. He wrote about the possibility that none of the four major professional sports teams in Dallas (Cowboys, Mavericks, Stars, and Rangers) make the playoffs this season. The Rangers already missed the playoffs after having a great season by today’s standards for the Rangers before the all-star break came and having one of the leagues best offenses. The Cowboys need a string of good wins before they can even be considered for the playoffs. The Mavericks started off 2-7 but have started to make a run, and the Stars are at the bottom of the Western Conference. It has been a long time since none of the teams made the playoffs in fact since the Stars came to Dallas it never happened.
This is a disappointing time to be a Dallas sports fan because even if we do make the playoffs it seems as though we get knocked out of the first round. Some people say that the run the stars made would break that trend, but all it seems to have done is take the playoffs out of the picture all together. Fortunately, the future can never be predicted, just speculated upon. This season Dallas is hoping that most speculation is wrong, rather than past seasons where we hope the speculations are right and they turn out to be wrong anyway. I guess that is the silver lining. Darn, no quote to end the blog this time. Wait, I have one, “In the sports world, no one is an expert.” A little more silver lining for Dallas fans.
